The Regents Review Summer 2025
DEPARTMENTAL NEWS Year 10 Visit to Munich & Austria From 6th July - 12th July, some of our Year 10 students embarked on an unforgettable educational visit to Munich and Austria that blended history, culture and adventure. One of the most poignant moments of our trip was the visit to Dachau Concentration Camp. As we walked through the former grounds, the somber atmosphere served as a strong reminder of the atrocities of the Holocaust, encouraging meaningful discussions among the students about resilience and human rights. The journey continued at the NASDAP museum, where students engaged with exhibits that depicted the rise and fall of the Nazi regime. The museum’s interactive displays provided a firsthand account of the historical events, sparking curiosity and debate amongst the group. Continuing our tour of Munich, we visited the site of the infamous Beer Hall Putsch of 1923. The stunning Brau Berger Keller belied the horrors of the attempted coup by Hitler and his men. Students were staggered at the beauty of the hall. A highlight of our trip was visiting Hitler’s mountain home, the Eagles Nest, located atop the Bavarian Alps. The breathtaking views were matched only by the captivating history shared by our guide. Later, the students had a blast whizzing down the Alpine slide, laughing as they experienced the thrill of the stunning scenery. Finally, we descended into the enchanting salt mines, where students learned about the ancient process of salt extraction. The visit concluded with a deeper appreciation of the historical and natural beauty of the region, leaving students eager to share their newfound knowledge and experiences back at school.
