DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

Enterprise Award, known as iDEA. iDEA is an international award-winning programme, that helps develop digital, enterprise and employability skills through series of online challenges. They can win career-enhancing badges, unlock new opportunities and ultimately, gain industry-recognised awards that help them stand out from the crowd. Special congratulations go to the following students, completing more than 250 activities to achieve the bronze award: Brandon, Crystal, Keven, George, Ace, Faith, Faeeza, Oliwia, Jacob, Ash, Alfie, Luisa, Jireh Lily-Mai, Mankiran, Jacob, Adam & Bruce. Teams from both classes took part in the Solent University business challenge for a pop-up shop in the City Centre. Six teams of 4 students, each worked on their business proposal and the students came up with fabulous ideas that included: a petting zoo, handmade jewellery, Indian street food, ice-creams & gelato, sunglasses with a small fan near the handles and spa on the go. It was a very difficult decision to choose one winning team to represent our school, however the spa on the go team was unanimously chosen and represented the school at Solent University. The team, Balm and Flame - Spa on the go, was made up of the following enterprise students: Ashley, Kareena, Koyna and Nzara. They were invited by the university to spend the day there, with a tour and lunch after the competition. We achieved runners up and Mrs Moussa was very proud of the girls and the effort they put in to represent the school. Enterprise & Marketing Year 10 have just sat their mock exam and have completed their first controlled assessment, with results due in August. They are already working through their second assignment, to pitch a business proposal for a t-shirt design. In September, we will continue this coursework and Business Studies & Enterprise

more work on the exam unit for enterprise and marketing concepts. Congratulations to Koyna for achieving a distinction in the mock and Isla for achieving a merit.
