DEPARTMENTAL NEWS Computing & Business Studies

We said goodbye to our Year 11 students, after they had completed their exams in May. Mrs Moussa had a special treat for 11X/Cs and 11W1/Bs. We wish them all the best of luck for their future.

KS4 Computer Science Year 10 have just completed their mock exam and we have concentrated on unit 2 programming fundamentals. We are moving back to unit 1, system architecture in September, to be ready for the next set of mocks in November. Congratulations to 10X/Cs class for all meeting their progress measure or above and special mention to John and Koyna for achieving a grade 9, as well as Subasna, Kismet and Ayan for achieving a grade 7. chosen technology with social, ethical, legal and environmental effects of this technology. These topics will equip our students with the knowledge of computing and prepare them for their GCSE options in computer science and IT courses. Congratulations to the following students nominated by their teachers from each class, as being stars of the year: 7BX: Nataniel & Melissa Year 8 have also been studying computer science topics, algorithms, logic gate and binary. They then moved on to researching about their

KS4 Creative iMedia As part of iMedia, students undertake two controlled assessments, covering different topics within IT. Year 10 have just sat their mock exams and have completed their first controlled assessment, with results due in August. They have started working through their second assignment, which is to produce an interactive product, aimed at promoting a youth radio station. They will be continuing this assessment when they return in September. Congratulations to Monica & Masha for being stars of the year.

KS3 Computing Year 7 have been studying the computer science topic coding, in Scratch, to design a story. They then moved on to creating a movie poster, as part of the creative iMedia taster lessons.
