The Regents Review Summer 2024

DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

Fundraising The PE Champions and This Girl Can Ambassadors, have been hard at work this year to raise as much money as possible for two very important charities: Abby’s Heroes, a charity that supports families on the children’s cancer ward at Southampton General Hospital. Also, McMillan Cancer Support, that provide care and support to families of adults after a diagnosis. Our first fundraising event took place during the Sports Awards, with a raffle that had lots of impressive prizes on offer. Southampton football shirts, days out, paintballing and days out to local attractions were some of the ‘big-ticket items’. Lots of students around the school got involved in this and it was able to add a healthy amount to the fundraising total. Even more impressive, the PE Champions and This Girl Can Ambassadors embarked on a Duathlon. The students took part in a sponsored swim and run to make it to Wembley Stadium, following the success of Southampton FC. Not only did they manage to cover the distance there, they also made it all the way back in the time they had. A fantastic achievement. However, this achievement was surpassed by the incredible amount of money raised for the charities. The total amount of money raised by these events was £1,783.40 - an incredible total, which will be split between two charities.

Our staff football match took place on 28th June. This gave students a chance to watch RPCC staff ‘attempt’ to play football, whilst raising money through ticket sales.
