The Regents Review Summer 2024

DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

Year 8 Dodgeball After a successful series of lessons in PE playing dodgeball, a number of Year 8 students were invited to play a dodgeball fixture away at Cantell school, as a reward for their fantastic participation in PE lessons. We were extremely proud of all the students, who showed off their knowledge of the rules and played very well. It was a pleasure to take this group away to another school to compete in dodgeball.

Rounders Team Our amazing Year 9 and 10 girls took part in multiple rounders fixtures over the last half term, which consisted of some great wins and some great resilience displayed when faced with fixtures that did not go the way they wanted. We could not be prouder of the team, as they upheld the values and ethos of RPCC through respect, leadership and positive sportsmanship. Each player has shown both physical and character development throughout and have created a lovely team environment for all involved. Miss Fitzsimmons and

Mr Sinclair are extremely proud of the team’s performances and have thoroughly enjoyed taking the girls to fixtures. Well done to all students involved! City Champs We took 35 students to the Southampton Athletics Centre, to complete in a range of track and field events. They showed great resilience, determination and achieved amazing results, including some top 3 finishes for their event. The students thoroughly enjoyed their day and it was a privilege to take the students out to represent our school.

PE Kit Please can we remind students that they should be wearing RPCC PE kit for practical core, sports leaders and BTEC sport lessons. Please can you ensure your child is not wearing hooded jumpers, as this can cause harm to themselves and other students. They are permitted to wear the RPCC PE jumper or a plain blue or black jumper, that doesn’t have a hood. If a student is unable to take part in PE, please ensure they have a note and their PE kit (they won’t take part practically, but will engage in other roles throughout their lesson). If a student is unable to change, please get in touch with their PE teacher. Please check your child’s timetable and our uniform policy on the website, to ensure they are adhering to school rules. Many thanks for your support.

Sports Day This year’s Sports Day was a tremendous success, filled with energy, enthusiasm, and outstanding performances from our students. The event provided an opportunity for students to choose between staying at school or heading to the Sports Centre for a variety of activities. At the Sports Centre, students showcased their skills in American football, athletics throwing, fitness, football, spikeball, and tennis. The competitive spirit and camaraderie were truly inspiring, with many students displaying remarkable teamwork.

Meanwhile, back at school, the atmosphere was equally vibrant. Students participated in basketball, board games, dance, and water polo. The diversity of activities ensured that there was something for everyone, whether they preferred high-energy sports or more relaxed, strategic games. A special thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and students who made this day possible. Your dedication and hard work ensured that Sports Day was an enjoyable and memorable experience for all. The PE team wish you a restful and safe summer break. We are really looking forward to welcoming you back in September.
