GENERAL NEWS

Year 9 Resilience Session

skills in employability and CV writing. Additional sessions on apprenticeships & traineeships was delivered by Aspire Learning. To finished their 3 day experience off, we had a session run by Elite Sports (army), covering team building skills which was a brilliant the session. It was really fun and engaging, covering strategies for how to effectively overcome problems they encounter both in school, socially and beyond. It used topics such as developing a growth mindset and being aware of what things we can control and what we can’t.

We ran a bonus event for Year 9 this term looking at developing their resilience skills, using an extended tutor time we had the provider ‘positivelyMAD’ deliver Year 10 Virtual Work Experience The week beginning Monday 5th July, Year 10 took part in the first ever Virtual Work Experience sessions. We had to run it differently for the whole year group, as so many employers were not in a position to have students. We have advised the year group that if in the future there was a work experience that they would like to do, we will see if we can support this. As part of the work experience, students had to choose between 4 different career areas with sessions supported by a range of businesses. • Business – WSX Enterprise • Construction – Jackson Rowe • Creative – Hampshire Futures, Fareham College, Surrey Heath Theatre • Health & Social Care – Rose Road, Hampshire Futures They were provided with tasks and opportunities to meet and understand the different types of job role in the sectors chosen. Students also covered general

way to end a very different type of work experience. For Year 10 moving into Year 11, we will be spending more time looking and applying for their colleges/other pathways during September.
