Regents Review Summer '18

The Regents Review Summer 2018

GENERAL NEWS

Some of our students have been writing letters to Year 6 pupils who will be joining us next year. Below is a picture of some of our Year 7s with their letters.

Year 8 It feels like yesterday I was doing my first assembly as Head of Year 8 at RPCC and now an amazing year is coming to an end. Year 8 have had a brilliant year and it has been a pleasure to oversee the progress of the year group as well as seeing the Year group develop into young respectful adults. Year 8 has been dominated by the students being involved in the options process which will begin to shape the future of the students. The students have been respectful and mature through this process and I look forward to overseeing the beginning of the GCSE courses next year. I am really proud of all the students this year who have shown, in a variety of lessons that they can work independently but also challenge themselves to be the best they can be. It is a pleasure to take a seat in Year 8 lessons and watch all of the hard work by the students which leads to the creation of high quality work. This term was a busy one with Sports Day, X Factor and a range of trips for the students to participate in. We are really pleased with the amount of students who have taken part in these opportunities throughout the year and have represented the school in a polite and respectful manner. We have received many positive reports from the community outside of school showing the maturity and respect shown by Year 8. A major positive for Year 8 was from 10 students who travelled to The Emirates Stadium in North London to participate in a Dual Language Competition. RPCC came out on top and won the competition involving schools from all over the country which is an absolutely fantastic achievement and proves the abilities and potential of Year 8. Huge well done to Emmanuel Egbe, Justin Kimathi, Riley Knowles, Lydia Barucka, Faheem Rashid, Alex Gesteira, Patrick Ricardo, Zak Chentoufi and Sam Palmer. Overseeing the progress and development of Year 8 this year has been an absolute pleasure and I can’t wait until September to oversee the beginning of the students’ GCSE courses. Have a brilliant restful summer and I look forward to seeing you all in Year 9. Mr D Gates Head of Year 8
