Physical Education DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

PE Champion & This Girl Can Charity Event The PE Champions and This Girl Can Ambassadors, have been hard at work, raising money for their chosen charities. They have been collecting sponsorship recently and completed the bounce-a-thon and row-a-thon on Monday 10th March. It was an incredible effort by all, including a few special guests, with some members of staff having a go as well. The students managed to keep bouncing and rowing for the entire seven hours and the total raised is impressive and will be published soon. Alfie’s Wish and Men’s Minds Matter, will both receive half of the total raised from this year’s fundraising and it is a great start to those totals. Raffle tickets are also now available on Scopay for the sports awards raffle, with some incredible prizes on offer. As always, this term has been extremely busy in the PE department. Thank you to all the staff and students, who have given up their time to provide opportunities for sporting and personal growth.

lessons. Over 2024/25, we have seen incredible talent, development and achievements made by our students at RPCC and want to celebrate these formally, with a range of awards across the evening. We have many exciting awards to celebrate student successes, including manager, players player, most improvement in clubs, sports girl and boy of the year, plus many more. In addition to this, we have our sports awards raffle, that will support with raising money for our two chosen charities: Alfie’s Wish and Men’s Minds Matter. All money raised, will be combined with the money raised from our charity fundraiser. Girls Biggest Football Session On Friday 7th March, RPCC again, took part in the Girls Biggest Ever Football Session, which was a great way to celebrate International Women’s Day. This is a nationwide celebration, highlighting the importance of inclusivity in sports, showing students that girls belong in football. To support with the day, we had alumni students, Millie and Molly, supporting with the day, providing students at RPCC with role models of women who play football. Over 55 girls took part, and shared their enjoyment of the day, whilst they made new friends, gained greater confidence and developed their skill-set, encompassing the 9 PE progress strands.

Sports Awards This year, we are really excited to be hosting another Sports Awards at RPCC. On Thursday 1st May, selected students will be invited to an awards evening based on their achievements and contributions within sports clubs, teams and PE
