DEPARTMENTAL NEWS
Year 10 Fine Art Year 10 fine art have been working hard on their coursework based on the theme of ‘everyday objects’. We started the term looking at the work of Patrick Caulfield and his use of pattern and colour within everyday scenes. We are now studying the work of the Cubists, creating personal responses to their paintings and collages. Year 11 BTEC Drama Students are working hard to complete their NEA BTEC assignment on the theme of joint effort. Miss Brookes is very proud of the conduct of Year 11 drama students, along with their continued commitment to their drama work. A very big well done for this year! On Monday 10th February, students represented RPCC at the Secondary Music Showcase. This was held at the Mast Theatre offering our musical students the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre, with the support of a team of professional lighting and sound technicians. The event, organised by Southampton Music Hub, offered all secondary school students in the borough to perform a 10-15 minute musical set. RPCC school band, currently made up of students from Year 8, 10 and 11, were eager to get involved and practiced hard in their preparations for the event. They performed 3 songs and enjoyed the experience of performing at a large event, experiencing a sound check and having their very own dressing room. It was a privilege to see the students perform so well and soak up the experience. Well done to everyone who was involved in the evening. You smashed it!
