The Regents Review Spring 2022
DEPARTMENTAL NEWS Physical Education Year 7 and 8 Girls
the Year 8 boys. They worked very hard to beat a Cantell team that were pushing hard to level the game. The boys showed a fantastic work ethic and team mentality to work together and pull through with a 2-1 win. Their final game was against Redbridge, this time it ended in a loss, but the boys once again showed great character and fight to keep playing until the final whistle. Year 9 Year 9 have yet again, been an absolute pleasure to manage this season. They have shown incredible team work, resilience and skill throughout the season. They currently sit third out of seven in the league. They have really grown as a team and always play a great passing game. Well done to all that represented the school with great positivity!
We’ve had great attendance for the KS3 girls football club this half term, almost doubling the number of girls attending on a Tuesday after school. It’s been brilliant to see the increase in confidence from our girls and the boost these girls are receiving from our 2 Year 10 coaches. With two more confirmed games lined up for them to play, we are currently second in the league. Year 7 Year 7 have started brilliantly to extra-curricular football at Regents Park. As a year group we are consistently getting 30 students to play football after school and the students that have been selected for fixtures have represented the school brilliantly. The boys currently sit in mid table of the league after recording wins against Lordshill Oasis and Chamberlayne, as well as narrow defeats to Hamble and Oasis Mayfield. At the time of writing, we have one game left against Woodlands. Great start Year 7!
After the huge success of PE Champion Day back in December, they hosted their second major event. The Regents Park Swimming Gala and Swimathon returned after a challenging couple of years, with huge success! Over 100 swimmers across 4 year groups took part in a variety of traditional and alternative races with smiles on their faces! The atmosphere was incredible with all swimmers supporting one another in a kind and empathetic way. This year, the PE Champions have chosen to raise money for Alfie’s Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support. A huge thank you to everyone involved in such a fantastic event!
Year 10 A really positive season throughout. The students showed sportsmanship and resilience in their tougher games against schools such as Greggs and Wildern - to which we secured a number of wins and played some fantastic football.
Year 8 There was a strong showing in the final games of the season from
