The Regents Review Spring 2021
Physical Education DEPARTMENTAL NEWS
PE’s recommended read:
I hope when reading this you and your families are in good health. We continue to adapt to the ever- changing challenges we face with real determination and resilience in the PE department! Students have approached and engaged in online lessons and shown a real interest to learn and adapt to different ways of learning. During difficult times, it is so important to ensure we are as active as possible - within Government guidelines of course! The positive impact this can have on our physical and mental wellbeing can really support us during these challenging times. Since Christmas, we have launched a variety of different competitions / challenges aimed at students to achieve their personal best. Where opportunities arose, we listened to feedback and have tried to turn these activities into dynamic family events. After a fantastic effort from both staff, students and their families, we managed to travel a combined 3117.07km. What an impressive total after 8 days of hard work! Staff and families = 1412.91km Students and families = 704.16KM Congratulations and thank you to everyone that took part. A special mention to Holly and her
family who managed a staggering 217km over the 8 days! We received a number of fantastic entries to our dance competition. It was great to see so many students push themselves out of their comfort zone – that’s when we really grow and develop! Our head judge has reviewed the entries and said it was an incredibly hard choice to decide the top 3. However, the results are in: KS3 1 - Sophie 2 - Alana 3 - Simran KS4 1 - Alisa 2 - Erin 3 - Mia Overall 1 - Alisa 2 - Erian 3 - Sophie On Wednesday 9th December 2020, over 50 BTEC sport students took their external exam. 80% attended additional revision sessions regularly and we’re pleased to report it paid off! Well done all!
Upon return to school, please can we remind students that they should only be wearing Regents Park PE kit on days they have core PE lessons or practical BTEC sport lessons. Please can you ensure students are not wearing hooded jumpers as this can cause harm to themselves and other students. They are permitted to wear the Regents Park PE jumper or a plain blue or black jumper that doesn’t have a hood. Please check your child’s timetable to ensure they are adhering to school rules. Many thanks for your support. The PE team wish you a restful and safe Easter break. We are really looking forward to welcoming you back to after school clubs and fixtures, when the situation allows us to.
