DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

Year 8 Art Students in Year 8 art have been looking at the weird and wonderful world of Yayoi Kusama and Robert & Sonia Delaunay. They have used their new skills in tonal drawing, mark making, watercolour and colour theory to produce artist responses.

Year 9 Art In Art, the Year 9s are learning about how portraiture and identity are so closely linked in art. They are studying the works of Pablo Picasso’s ‘Weeping Woman’ and Frida Kahlo’s ‘Death of Frida’. They have been creating some amazing artist study pages in their sketchbook with exceptional responses in both colouring pencil and watercolour.

Year 10 3D Design Students in Year 10 3D Design, have started their project of natural forms with a bang. Creating beautiful pieces both two and three dimensional. Students have been working hard both inside and outside the lessons to complete a digital portfolio of their research and creating beautiful responses to artists such as Cezanne, Mercer-Vernon and Kusama.

Year 11 3D Design Students in Year 11 are coming to the end of their coursework on Blue Planet. They have been hard at work, completing final pieces inspired by their chosen artists, architects and crafts people. Students completed a four-period mock exam, where they started making their final piece under exam conditions.
