Year 9 Resistant Materials

Year 9 have been designing a phone throne. Looking into production design and product designs on how thrones and chairs are made. They have been working with a mixture of materials including MDF, wood and fabric. Year 7 Graphics Students have been looking into the world of typography. Learning about letters, designing their own name tags and eventually designing their own 3D letter inspired by things they enjoy. Year 9 Photography In Photography, Year 9 have been looking at the layout and structure of a GCSE Photography coursework project. Their project has been looking at portraiture and in particular, different portrait photographers, who they have created artist studies on. They have then used these photographers work for inspiration in their own images. Students have looked at the technical skills of using a DSLR camera and have had an introduction to the different tools they can use on Photoshop. Students have taken photographs in the studio and on location. Students have also tried different Photoshop styles such as double exposure, black and white edits, colour select and illustration using a drawing pad.

Students were also set homework during their photography rotation in DT to create their own portrait images from everything they have learned in their lesson, with a focus on implanting photography techniques such as composition and angles.
