DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

Textiles There has been some incredible work completed in textiles this year already! Year 7 textiles, have been exploring The Mexican Day of the Dead and showing this through colour and pattern. Below is some of their best work:

Graphics Art students have been busy working their way through their projects. Year 7 students have been creating imaginative bugs using mark making and tone and getting inspiration from the artist Lynnette Shelley. Year 8 have explored colour theory and are studying the artist Jasper Johns. Students are currently creating designs inspired by his work. In graphics, we have just completed the first rotation. Year 7 have been introduced to typography, designing their own letters and creating them using paper mache. In Year 8, they have studied Ben Eine and have created some imaginative calligrams.

The Year 8s have been looking at a range of artists and using them to create their own designs. They have been conquering hand embroidery and using the sewing machine.

Year 9 students have just started their GCSEs in this subject and have already created some beautiful work. After a difficult time in Year 10, with the effects of COVID and lockdown, the Year 11 textiles group has produced some incredible work:
