GENERAL NEWS Alternative Provision Our Alternative Provision students have been really testing their skills at Woodmill Outdoor Activity Centre. They have showed great bravery and teamwork, encouraged each other and most importantly had great fun.
School Allotment RPCC is fortunate to have an offsite allotment and space at the side of the school for students to participate in gardening activities. Since September, two groups of students have been working hard each week to obtain an Asdan qualification in gardening. They have been learning when and how to grow different vegetables/flowers. When the vegetables are harvested, we have been using these for meals in cookery lessons. When we returned in September, it was still warm, this gave us the opportunity to spend time preparing the allotment/garden spaces, ready for the new year’s crops/flowers. We started to prepare the soil and dug up all the weeds. The allotment was very overgrown, when we first started and this took a lot of hard work and resilience in the heat to cut everything back. The weeds had definitely rooted themselves and we had to dig deep - then deeper! This was a challenge. The autumn months started to set in and the weather was turning chilly, there were the odd days between the rain that we got out and started to plant our spring bulbs. We discussed what we
