MathsWatch Masters MathsWatch is the main app we use for setting homework in maths. Homework is set weekly based on the topics the students are studying in class. Students completing homework, benefit from being able to practice the skills they have learned in class, which is all part of the retrieval practice skills they are mastering.

Whole-school Friday Reading It’s been a busy summer so far for reading at Regents Park! Firstly, all students across the school have been enjoying short stories read to them in three parts, every Friday, period 1. We started with Roald Dahl’s creepy tale, The Landlady, before getting all gothic and sinister with H. G. Wells’ classic, The Red Room and ending the year with Ray Bradbury’s, All Summer in a Day. Year 7 & 8 students said: “We like the teachers reading it to have loud voices.” “We are enjoying listening in Spanish. We have been doing our work, as we’ve been listening.” “It’s quite compelling that it gets left on a cliff hanger every Friday.” “It’s working well, having a section read to us each week.” Plenty more whole-school Friday reading to come.

Department Libraries Departments across the school have been working on developing their own ‘Department Libraries’ of exciting and inspiring fiction and non-fiction texts. Science, history, geography and English have so far taken delivery of a mixture of new and classic texts. Students are being encouraged to borrow these books – just like a regular library – to take home and enjoy at their leisure. These books have been chosen by teachers in each subject area, with the idea that they will develop students’ knowledge even further and enable students to see these subjects as existing outside of the classroom and indeed, outside of the school.
