It’s been a crazy time over the last few months in school, then out, then in for a while before we were out again. This has obviously been a very difficult time in relation to continuity for practical subjects and especially those that require specialist equipment such as musical instruments. That said, the students were provided with a choice of practical or theoretical lessons during the distant learning in order to cater for those both with and without musical instruments at home. Now that we are back in school, we have focussed more and more on practical elements of music to encourage participation and inclusion in musical activities. It is with this performance focus in mind that we are now turning our thoughts to live performances again. So, this term our next planned event has been launched to the pupils. REGENTS PARK’S GOT TALENT . Yes, it is on! Next September, students from all year groups will be steadily rehearsing to put on a BGT style contest, replacing our old ‘Regents Park X Factor’ competition. We are currently unsure if the event will run live or through the schools multi-media platforms, but one thing is for certain, the event promises to showcase the broad width of talent that the students of Regents Park have in bucket loads. Keep an eye open for this one early next academic year.

improvisational skills most of this year, they have also explored the concept of ‘Epic’ theatre and the practitioner, Bertolt Brecht. They completed their Key Stage 3 studies with a scripted performance of ‘Stone Cold’ – a play that deals with homelessness. There were some very sensitive performances dealing with this subject – well done Year 8.

BTEC Performing Arts Year 11 completed their final pieces of work – improvisation and written before they officially left us. We would like to say a huge well done and good luck for the future with whatever they have chosen to do. Year 9 have begun rehearsing their parts for next year’s school musical – at last! They are directing and rehearsing together in lessons, as well as after school – fantastic commitment Year 9, we are so proud of you. School Production Rehearsals School Production Rehearsals have begun at last! All students across all year groups have lines and dances to learn and songs to sing for next years production, so get those scripts out occasionally over the summer. It has been amazing, being able to get together – all be it in year group bubbles – to rehearse after school. Students and staff are so happy to be there. A huge ‘SHOUT-OUT’ goes to Alisa and Erin In Year 10 for choreographing and recording all the main dances for the show already!

Drama – Year 7 This term, Year 7 have been exploring the ‘tools’ an actor has to be able to perform on stage. They have experimented using a single word ‘rhubarb’ to demonstrate their tone of voice, they have experienced being ‘The Master’ and ‘The Servant’ to explore the concept of ‘Status’, which all culminated in a final performance. Year 7 have demonstrated their amazing creative skills all year – they should be very proud.
