DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

GCSE Textiles GCSE students have been experimenting with Shobori and entrapment techniques.

X Factor On Thursday 19th July the fourth annual Regents Park X Factor contest took place following last year’s success. Once again, years 7 - 10 were represented within the ten acts who performed. As always, the event was well supported by both parents and pupils who all came along to cheer on their friends and family members and place their vote for the overall winner. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone who was involved in the show including the performers, the judges, the crew and the audience who made this evening a great deal of fun. A massive well done to Eleanor Hartley, who was this years winner! See you again next year.

War Horse On Thursday 7th June, a group of 14 creative arts students in Years 9 and 10 visited the Mayflower Theatre. They took part in puppet workshops, singing rehearsals and visited the City Gallery. They then watched the matinee performance of the acclaimed National Theatre production of ‘War Horse’. It was an outstanding day full of fun, creativity and history.

Art GCSE Year 9 have been learning a wide range of skills and techniques in art this year, covering everything from abstract printing to clay work. Currently, they are learning how to draw realistic self-portraits. Their skills have developed and progressed massively as they consistently demonstrate their resilience and patience!
