It has been an exciting and busy summer term in the PE department. Students have continued to thrive at after school clubs and fixtures. This term has seen us host a street cricket tournament against St Georges School, with RPCC winning 3 of the 4 games. Over 50 students took part in this brilliant event. As reported in the previous newsletter, the department have been focusing on increasing our extra-curricular club attendance. Our PE Champions and student leaders have been incredible in making this happen. Through student voice and their passion, we now have an average of 22 students at a club, including dance, swimming, cricket, trampolining, football, rugby and dodgeball. We have had over 350 students take part in extra- curricular clubs, well done to everyone involved! This has resulted in some fantastic achievements: 15 students achieved a top 4 position at the Southampton Schools’ Swimming Gala, our Year 7 and 8 girls rounders team came third out of 10 in the league. Our Year 7 boys football team beat Wildern School in the cup final at Staplewood. Again, we also competed at the Regional Rock Challenge final. Our new extra-curricular ‘PE Passport’, where students collect a stamp for every club that they

attend throughout each term, has encouraged students to attend clubs and will continue next year. Congratulations to the students that attended a trip to the New Forest Activity Centre, they had a great time! The PE Champions hosted their second whole school event of the year in March. Their support and leadership throughout these events has been incredible and the majority of students really enjoyed how inclusive and positive the experience they had was.
