Science Week Activities This term, we celebrated Science Week with a variety of engaging activities tailored for each year group: Year 7 explored Interdependence with the “Amazing Animal Adaptations” activity, where they learned how different species adapt to their environments. • Year 8 delved into life diversity with the “Guess What’s For Dinner?” activity, examining how parasites adapt to their hosts. knowledge of heating through hands-on experiments and discussions. • Year 10 focused on genetics and health with the “Defeat the Tumour” activity, learning about cancer and the role of science in combating it. • Year 9 utilised their In addition, we participated in Safer Internet Day, where students engaged in lessons centred around the theme, “How can we trust what the internet tells us?” They analysed evidence and wrote conclusions based on their findings.
Debates and Discussions Our students have also been involved in thought provoking debates, tackling critical issues such as: Year 11: “GM food is bad” Year 9 & 10: “Global warming is a hoax” Year 7 & 8: “Vaccines cause autism” These discussions have encouraged our students to think critically and articulate their views based on scientific evidence. Science Clubs Year 11 students have been diligently preparing for their upcoming exams with after school revision sessions for combined science on Mondays and separate science on Fridays. Our KS3 science club continues to thrive, offering exciting opportunities for students to explore science beyond the classroom. Additionally, Year 9 recently visited Life Lab and our KS4 students participated in the Lego challenge science club, fostering creativity and teamwork. As we look forward to an action-packed summer term, we wish our Year 11 students the best of luck in their upcoming exams. Keep up the fantastic work, everyone!
ARK School We are thrilled to announce that our school has been designated as an ARK Ambassador school! This prestigious recognition comes as a result of the significant progress our students have made in science over the past year. We are immensely proud of their achievements and it is a testament to their hard work and dedication. As we approach the completion of our easter assessments, we are excited to share that a remarkable number of our students have placed in the top 10% nationally in their year groups for their Christmas assessments across the ARK schools.
