As a PiXL school we are launching the PiXL Maths app with our students. Students can download the app from the PiXl website. An advantage for our students is during KS4, we can upload their mock exam scores to allow the app to be personalised to each student’s strengths and weaknesses. Currently, Year 11 are working in the app and those who engage, are finding it a useful tool to use, as part of their revision.

MathsWatch is the main app we use for setting homework in maths. Homework is set weekly based on the topics the students are studying in class. Students completing homework, benefit from being able to practice the skills they have learned in class, which is all part of the retrieval practice skills they are mastering. Top 5 students

Why do GCSE Statistics? In Year 10, we offer an additional maths-based GCSE, which focuses on the statistics part of our syllabus. It is a great opportunity for students to support their learning in maths and extend it on to topics which will be covered at A level. During their studies, students will be expected to carry out their own experiments and analyse their results. These have included: testing the human brain (reflex skills), predicting the classes’ basketball skills and holiday destinations. By the end of Year 11, students will have gained an additional GCSE, which will look very appealing to employers and help support any A levels in maths, economics, business studies etc.
