ICT IT – KS3

Creative iMedia – KS4 For this last year in iMedia, Year 11 have had some changes, the assessment that we began working on has now been cancelled and we are spending our time finishing off and improving their assessments from Year 9 and 10, which will be used to support a decision on their final grade. After school sessions are taking place for those needing to improve their previous piece of work.

During the lockdown, all Year 8 classes completed a taster unit for their iMedia work. This was to produce a movie DVD. This unit gave students a chance to find out more about one of our ICT GCSE options we provide. In the second half of the term we started the logic unit, which is part of our computer science curriculum. Year 7 started the term studying hardware with an end of unit assessment. Congratulations to our top students from each class. They are now studying the iMedia unit to produce a movie poster.

Year 10 are continuing on with the second controlled assessment. They have been practicing their website skills ready to begin making their promotional website about Southampton. Year 9 have started their first assessment which will involve designing a sci-fi book cover, they are continuing with their research into this topic. After school intervention for Year 11 takes place on Tuesday and Thursday after school in room 5. Cyber Ambassadors Well done to the following students on becoming our ‘Cyber Ambassadors’, training and certificate from Hampshire police will take place in the summer term.

Computer Science – KS4 Year 11 are continuing with their mini assessments for each unit with an end of Unit 1 assessment taking place Tuesday 30th March and Unit 2 on Tuesday 18th May. All these assessments will support their centre assessed grades. Year 9 and 10 started to study new topics in school after some revision during the lockdown. Mini assessments took place during the lockdown as well, to support their teachers’ knowledge of how well they understood these topics.
