The Future of RPCC During the last half term, Miss Birch worked with the Year 6s at Foundry Lane, to see what they have been getting up to in their maths lessons. The aim for this was to see what we can do as a maths department to make sure our Year 7s are thoroughly challenged and supported when they arrive in September. She sat in on some lessons, where students showed off their fantastic algebra skills, and then delivered a few lessons on metric units. Coming from Regents Park, Miss Birch was ready to really test the students with GCSE questions on converting units, but the Year 6s were ready for the challenge. The students then went on to complete ‘Best Buy’ questions - an examiner’s favourite, where students have to decide which item is better value for money, comparing both the weight and price. The students showed an excellent level of mathematical thinking and enthusiasm. It is safe to say that we will have some fantastic mathematicians joining us in September!
