Year 8 Food In Year 8 food tech, students have created a variety of different meals. These include: rainbow salad, garlic and rosemary focaccia bread and mac and cheese. Students learned practical skills, such as: knife safety, health and safety and preparing food. Alongside the practical aspects of the curriculum, students have also been learning about making healthy food swaps, ‘The Eat Well Guide’ and shopping on a budget. Students have been able to watch their teacher demonstrate good standard and quality of recipes made and then get to create the recipe themselves, to take home and enjoy.
Year 7 Food Students in Year 7 have been looking at health and safety in the kitchen, learning how to safely use the kitchen and how to safely prepare food. Alongside this, students have been cooking some tasty savoury treats.
Year 9 Food Students in Year 9 have been learning about the dangers of cross contamination in the kitchen, in regards to allergens and intolerances. They have been learning about gluten and diary free lifestyles, as well as, cooking some recipes, which look closely at the 14 major allergens people suffer from.
