Hairspray – The Musical On January 24th 2018 The Year 10 BTEC Performing Arts students attended the Mayflower Theatre to watch the west end touring company’s version of ‘Hairspray – The Musical’ All students have been studying musical theatre as part of their Component 1 coursework unit for Performing Arts. Everyone really enjoyed the show – especially the comic moments between Edna and Wilbur, the amazing colourful set, fantastic dancing and the powerful voices of the cast.

Nuffield Theatre February 28th 2018

Actors from the Nuffield Theatre in Southampton spent the day with Year 8 running workshop scenarios linked to their production, ‘The Shadow Factory’ about the building of the Spitfire planes in Southampton. Each class formed part of an improvisation that took them back in time to the 1940’s and they then had the opportunity to visit the heritage bus that accompanied the actors. It encompassed the history of Southampton’s part in the war effort and great fun learning ‘in- role’.

KS4 Photography Students have been entering the National School Photography Competition this term. It was a very hard theme this year (Through the eyes of school) but the students have been thinking outside the box and creating some wonderful pieces using the skills they have learnt this year. Well done to Charlie Ives who was the first to enter. We look forward to telling you if we win.

Thank you Nuffield Theatre!
