DEPARTMENTAL NEWS Physical Education Sporting Updates

performance. They are currently top of the league.

The Year 8 boys team currently sit second in the table with two games left to play, with good performances in these games they should be able to consolidate second and put the pressure on a strong Woodlands team that sit at the top of the table.

We have been very excited by a great new feature added within school, with the weekly sporting updates promoting the successes of students within the PE department. This is shared amongst all staff and students, and allows for students to be recognised for their achievements, with the announcement of the PE prize draw every two weeks. The draw highlights some of the student’s fantastic work and attitude to learning within PE lessons, giving them the chance to win some PE related prizes, which they can then use to further access the sports outside of the school setting. These updates also encompass the new and upcoming fortnightly role models which allow students to become aware of the sporting careers they can get into, in a diverse and inclusive manner. We are looking forward to bringing you the results of this year’s PE Champion Week. The team have been working hard to collect student opinions, fundraising ideas and supporting extra curricular clubs. These have been very well attended. It was great to have the return of competitive fixtures across the city. Clubs have been extremely well attended and our teams have performed well. Year 7 & 8 Girls Football We’ve had an outstanding start to the season with the Year 7 and 8 junior girls football team, with two 5-0 wins and one draw. The girls have shown an outstanding attitude within all games they have played, showing high levels of respect, as well as showing great quality in their

Year 7 Boys: The Year 7 boys have come up against some excellent opposition. Despite this, they have managed to achieve some fantastic results and currently sit third in the league. Well done to all those who have represented Regents Park so well, and to the 50 students that attend Year 7 football club. Good luck in the next half of the season.

Year 9 Boys: The Year 9 boys have been a pleasure to take off-site to fixtures. They are a polite and proactive squad that have worked tirelessly in training to enhance the shape and knowledge of roles within the team. As a result, results have improved and we currently sit third in the table at the half way stage. Keep up the great work!

Year 8 Boys: The Year 8s have had a mixed set of results so far. They have played well in the games and managed to win against Oasis Lordshill and Greggs School. There have also been some challenging matches where the boys couldn’t seem to reach the same level of success, these games against Hamble and Woodlands ended in defeat. However, there were patches of these games that the boys played really well and gave their all. As the team haven’t played school fixtures together before, this year has been one in which they have been getting used to how one another play and how to work effectively as a team. If they can continue to develop their ability to play as a team, they will have a lot of success in the years to come.

Year 10 Boys: The Year 10 boys have had a fantastic season, with only one loss they have become a formidable side. They have shown respect, resilience and pride throughout every single one of their games that they have played, and represented Year 10 and Regents Park very proudly. They are also currently sitting at the top of the league!
