Since the lifting of lock down, practical science has very much been on the agenda for students and staff at Regents Park. We all know that sometimes the best way to learn science is by ‘doing’, so here are some examples of the practical work we have been undertaking this term, taking full advantage of our amazing new science labs.

Investigating CO2 in ice samples The end of this term will bring some staff changes to the science department. Mr Muller will be returning full time to the team as of January 2022 and we know that students will be pleased to see him. Mr Ashworth will be leaving Regents Park at the end of this term, and the science department would like to thank him for his hard work and service to the school. We wish him well with all his future endeavours. Finally, this will be my last science Regents Review. I too, will be leaving Regents Park at the end of December. I’m incredibly proud of what has been achieved during my time as Curriculum Leader and I wish the department and the school all the future success. All that is left for me to say is thank you and have a wonderful Christmas when we get there. Mr Moth & The Science Department

The department was fortunate enough to be awarded a bursary for the Biological and Medicinal Chemistry Sector of the Royal Society of Chemistry. They are dedicated to furthering interests of those involved in pursuit and understanding of bioactive molecules. As a result of their kind donation, we were able to purchase a new heating mantel and distillation kit. The equipment has already been put to good use, inspiring our Year 7 students during their science lessons.
