Future Year 7s Rise to the Challenge On the 1st July, we welcomed our future Year 7 students in for a Year 6 taster day and they were an absolute credit to themselves and their primary schools! As part of the day, students got stuck into a Geography challenge, designing and building their own earthquake-proof structures. From the moment they walked through the doors, our visitors showed amazing resilience, throwing themselves into a brand-new environment with confidence and a real willingness to have a go - testing, rethinking and rebuilding their structures with real determination. Even before officially joining us, these students were already living out our ethos of Respect, Pride, Creativity and Challenge . They showed respect for their new surroundings, staff and each other, took pride in their finished structures, brought plenty of creativity to their designs and met the challenge of building something that could withstand an earthquake with real enthusiasm and problem solving. We were so impressed with how they conducted themselves and it’s clear they’re going to fit right in. We can’t wait to welcome them properly into Year 7 in September!
