Building on this knowledge, students designed and developed imaginative 3D letter sculptures inspired by their hobbies, interests and favourite activities. From sports and gaming to

music, animals and nature, each project allowed students to showcase their creativity, while developing their drawing, design and problem-solving skills. It has been wonderful to see students

take ownership of their work, producing highly individual outcomes that celebrate both their artistic abilities and their unique personalities.

Year 8 Photography This half term, Year 8 Photography students have been introduced to the exciting world of photography and digital image-making. The rotation has focused on developing a strong foundation of photographic knowledge and practical skills, helping students understand how cameras work and how photographers create effective images. Students began by learning essential camera skills, including how to handle a camera correctly and how different settings can affect the final photograph. They explored key concepts such as composition, framing, focus, lighting and perspective, developing an understanding of how these elements can be used creatively to improve their photographs. Through a range of practical activities, students have had opportunities to experiment with taking photographs and evaluating the success of their images. Alongside camera work, students have been introduced to Adobe Photoshop and have started learning basic editing techniques. They have explored how digital editing can enhance photographs through adjustments to colour, brightness, contrast and cropping. Students have

also gained experience using Photoshop tools to make simple improvements and creative alterations to their images, helping them understand the role of post-production in modern photography. The class has also explored a variety of photographic genres, allowing students to see how photography can be used for different purposes. These genres have included portrait photography, still-life photography and landscape photography. By studying examples from professional photographers, students have developed their visual literacy and gained an appreciation of different photographic styles and approaches. Overall, this half term has provided students with a valuable introduction to photography. They have developed technical skills, explored creative processes and gained confidence in using both cameras and editing software. These experiences will provide a strong foundation for future photography projects and further creative exploration. Year 9 Photography
