Year 7 Resistant Materials

This term, Year 7 students have enjoyed designing and creating their own fully functional clocks, combining creativity with practical making skills. Throughout the project, they have learned about the mechanics of clock movements and how the different components work together to keep accurate time. As part of the manufacturing process, students have been introduced to the workshop environment, developing their understanding of health and safety procedures and learning how to use a range of tools and equipment responsibly. They have also explored design development, creating unique and personalised clock faces before carefully painting and finishing their products in their own chosen styles. The project has provided an excellent introduction to design and technology, allowing students to build confidence in the workshop, while developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and an appreciation for how functional products are designed and made. It has been wonderful to see the pride students have taken in creating a clock that is both practical and uniquely their own.

Year 8 Resistant Materials This term, Year 8 students have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of designing and creating their own labyrinth games. The project has taken them through the full

design process, from generating and sketching initial ideas on paper to using computer-aided design software to develop and refine their concepts. Students have explored the mechanics behind successful problem-solving games,
