Year 9 Textiles This term, Year 9 students have continued to develop and refine their textile skills through the design and creation of their own tote bags. Building on the fundamental techniques learned in previous years, students have advanced their understanding of textile construction, decoration and design, while working with increasing independence and confidence. The project has been inspired by the work of Mr Brainwash, encouraging students to explore bold imagery, typography and contemporary visual styles. Alongside the practical work, students have engaged in discussions about the differences between graffiti, vandalism and street art, considering how art can be used to communicate messages and influence public spaces. By combining creative design with practical making skills, students have produced personalised tote bags that showcase both their technical progress and artistic individuality.

Year 7 Food As part of the Food Technology rotation, Year 7 students have developed a range of practical cooking skills while learning about food safety, hygiene and nutrition. They have practised using kitchen equipment safely, followed recipes independently and explored the principles of

a balanced diet. Through a variety of cooking tasks, students have gained confidence in preparing and presenting simple dishes, while also developing teamwork, organisation and time-management skills in the kitchen.
