The Regents Review Summer 2026

DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

Year 8 Textiles This term, Year 8 students have been developing their textile knowledge and practical skills through a range of exciting decorative techniques. They have explored and practised fundamental textile processes, including batik, hand embroidery and tie-dye, gaining confidence in using different methods to create colour, pattern and texture within their work. Students have applied these skills to produce imaginative ‘under the

sea’ themed artworks, inspired by the intricate and vibrant creations of Yellena James. Through this project, they have experimented with combining techniques, colours and materials to create unique textile pieces that reflect the organic shapes and forms found in marine environments. The project has encouraged creativity, attention to detail and technical skill development, resulting in a collection of highly individual and visually engaging outcomes.
