DEPARTMENTAL NEWS ICT & Business KS4 Computer Science Year 11 have completed their second mock exam. This was paper 2, that includes the programming assessment and some students improved their grades compared to paper 1. Special congratulations to the following students: Katie and Olly gaining 9. Robbie and Daniel gaining 8. Jake gaining 7. Revision materials are available on Seneca, Tassomai, Python programming and our own resources available on Google Classroom. There will also be additional papers with mark schemes for students to practise exam style questions. This will help to develop core knowledge to support with final exams, our first paper will be on Friday 19th May 2023 and paper 2 on Thursday 25th May 2023. Year 10 started practising their skills in exam style questions and will be sitting their first mock in July. Special mention to Hong for always maintaining being above his progress measure. Year 9 have started learning programming skills through Python. The NEA project is no longer required to be submitted to the exam board, but students still need to make up 20 hours of coding and we have already been working towards completing this. Students are enjoying the coding process and special mention to Andrei, Hikmet, Leo and Luca, for mastering the coding skills.

ICT Creative iMedia – KS4 Year 11 sat their real exams early back in January and we would like to congratulate all students in general for their performance. Special mention to the following students who achieved level 2 Distinction: Ades, Mani & Dagmara. Students are now working on improving their second and final coursework ready for submission this summer. Year 10 are in the closing stages of completing their first controlled assessment covering making visual identities and digital graphics about the metaverse. These will be sent off this summer, to the exam board. After that, we will be looking at exam skills and making preparation for their next assessment, which will involve creating interactive websites. Year 9 have been developing their website skills this term, creating interactive products promoting both the local area and topics of their choice, in readiness for their first controlled assessment. Cyber Ambassadors Our cyber ambassadors have been very busy during the week beginning 7th February, they prepared a presentation that was delivered virtually in assemblies to all year group as part of Safer Internet Day, which took place on Tuesday 7th February. On the day, all of our cyber ambassadors were able to attend the Safer Internet Day conference at King Edward School hosted by Hampshire Police & Crime Commissioner, where they took part in workshops. Regents Park won the award for the best social media and school activities, Julia, Stanley and Zaine collected the award from the commissioner on behalf of our ambassadors.
