Photography This year, we have entered the photography competition run by Ringwood school again. It was great to get involved in working collaboratively with so many schools. We had an amazing number of entries and we look forward to hearing who makes the finals. Here are a few of our entries.

Theatre for Life Workshop On Monday 6th March, ‘Theatre for Life’ visited our Year 9 and 10 BTEC performing arts students and spent the day exploring the ‘brain’. Students took part in a full day workshop and escape room experience with ‘Theatre for Life’ and Solent University. They were immersed in an interactive light-up brain dome and rounded off with a session from a carer at the dementia support service ‘Remind’, about breaking down stigma around dementia and supporting loved ones living with the illness. They looked creatively at how the brain works, functions, grows and expands, to explain how change for the better is possible i.e. with mental health recovery, linked to dementia and other diseases. They took part in a performance based around their findings and talked to professionals from Southampton University and ‘Solent Mind’. They also explored how negative VS positive lifestyle choices students make today around diet and use of technology, can reduce their chances of early onset dementia by an unimaginable 40%. The interactive ‘escape room’ experience organised

by LifeLab at University of Southampton, which blends science and art together, helped them explore how the ‘Theatre for Life’ could create a piece of performance, which they will bring back to school and perform once they have developed it. The students enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to seeing the work within the final performance. An outstanding experience for our students, not only linking science with the arts, but also the effects of our everyday life and how it can impact us later on. Well done Year 9 & 10 – great work!
