KS3 Monsters As part of their learning on body parts, Year 8 students designed monsters in French and Spanish. They also had the opportunity to consolidate prior knowledge by describing the monster’s personality, clothing and opinions! Look at Felix, Hanna and Tawhida’s amazing creations below!

Trip to Madrid Mrs Northfield is busy searching for quotes for a potential trip to Madrid in late 2027. We’ll let you know when there are any updates! Languagenut The MFL department continue to be impressed with students’ effort (especially Year 7) on our online learning platform Languagenut. Below you will see the school leaderboard. Remember Languagenut is a great resource to keep your languages fresh over the break - your usernames and passwords can be found on your Google Classroom.

Community Language Exams This year, we have over 30 students taking examinations in their home language, students often excel in these exams achieving grade 8 or 9 In the summer term, Mrs Northfield will begin collating entries for the current Year 9 students. This will involve looking for all speakers of Polish, French, German, Spanish, Arabic ,Bengali, Punjabi, Turkish, Italian, Farsi, Chinese, Urdu, Portuguese, Japanese, Persian and Russian. If you haven’t already done so, RPCC can enter you for a bonus GCSE in your home language in June 2027. Although we may not be able to help with the language itself, the MFL department can support you with essential exam skill and practice – we even have a dedicated Google Classroom where past papers and other useful tips can be found. Please come and see Mrs Northfield if this is something that interests you – we cannot enter you in for the GCSE without your parent’s permission.

Year 11 Mocks and Intervention Well done to all Year 11 linguists on the improvement in their March mock exams! Please remember that the speaking intervention is available every other Thursday after school in room 41! Continue to use your broader conversation booklets on Google Classroom to revise. Final speaking exams will be on the 5th and 6th May for GCSE Spanish, all other Community Language exams will be organised separately. Please see Mrs Northfield for your exact times.
