Regents Review - Spring 2021
The Regents Review Spring 2021
WELCOME
Headteacher’s Welcome
The classrooms and corridors are full of students and once again we can hear laughter, see learning and celebrate the achievements in school. But as you will see from this edition of the Regents Review, the lockdown did not stop us from celebrating and learning even when we had to work from home in our virtual school. We are all so proud of how the students have ‘bounced back’ and as a community, we are working so hard to keep improving our wonderful school. One of the most important parts of being a Headteacher is to listen to the students and consider their views and ideas. This is something we do every day in lessons and around the school, but we now also collect their views regularly in our magic moments, hot chocolate mornings, college council and student surveys. It is always fascinating what they come up with and is so often a key part of our leadership discussions. Inside this Regents Review you will see some of the improvements we have introduced as a result of student feedback: “We are proud of our new lanyards that help reduce the lunch queues and it is great that we can now order our food in advance using the preordering system.” “The new bounce back logo is all around the school and we enjoyed voting for the best logo.” “We felt it was important for rewards to be given during lockdown, so we love watching the Roll of Honour video.”
“Live lessons were great and it really helped us with our learning. We requested some fun activities and you listened, the Great Regents Bean off, the dance competition, the PE challenge and our Virtual World Book Day were some of our favourites.” Next term, our Year 11 students will enter their final term and we wish them luck with their assessments that will determine their final grades. Year 11 will also be arranging their prom with a difference, under the Government guidelines and the current Headboy and Headgirl will help with the process to elect our new student leadership team. Traditionally, Regents Park ends the year with sports events, reward assemblies, swimming gala, exciting trips and this year will be no different, we will just be working out how to arrange them in a COVID safe way. Thank you for all your amazing feedback and support this term, it really has meant a great deal. Wishing you all a wonderful Easter. Stay safe Mrs Barnes Headteacher
