The Regents Review Spring 2019

GENERAL NEWS Year 10

Wow, where has the time gone? As we look back over the spring term, Year 10 have sat their exams and they were the last ones before the Year 11 mock exams. I am very proud of the students in Year 10 with their attitude and desire to achieve. I asked staff to comment on their thoughts of Year 10: “Year 10 are creative, intelligent, have a thirst for knowledge, want to do well, funny and a joy to teach.” “From doing my duty in the hall, I always appreciate the fact that they tuck the chairs away and usually respect their seating area very well.” “Year 10 are AMAZING and I adore them.” During this term I have launched a monthly reward system. The top four achieving students for each month will receive a letter sent to parents congratulating them on their achievements with a £10 shopping voucher. Students have warmed to this and there seems to be great competition to be in the top four. Congratulations to: Charlie Parnell, Daniel Chester, Karolina Gaudzinska, Ethan Whybrew, Liam Woods, Olivia Bearfield,

Kinga Kruszynska & Lauren Earney for January and February. Student Leadership applications have begun this month, as the current Year 11 Student Leadership Team begin to step down in preparation for their final exams next term. This is an exciting time as students begin to apply for Head Boy/Girl, Deputy Head Boy/Girl and prefect roles. Applications need to be sent to Mr Brown or Miss Reed. Some students are beginning to feel nervous as we approach the final year at Regents Park Community College. I have had numerous conversations with students during this term as we look forward. Please let the school know if your child is feeling the pressure, there is help and support the school can give. I really look forward to the summer term and wonder where all the time has gone. I wish you all a restful Easter holiday. Mr Sinclair Head of Year 10

Year 11 The sun is shining and we are almost there! I feel like I’m forever saying ‘I can’t believe it’, but I really can’t - we are almost there! Exams start straight after Easter holiday. Unfortunately, there no longer is study leave permitted, however all lessons that have finished will be replaced with revision sessions within school. Students will start to leave early as of 12th June and will be released from school on the 19th June. More details to follow after Easter. As we are running towards the finishing line with Year 11 I think it is really important to stop and think about what a journey our students have been on over their time here at Regents Park. I do hope that when they look back on their education, they say that it was a great time with

lots of friends, experiences and enjoyment. We have really enjoyed teaching Year 11 and have enjoyed their different personalities very much. Rock Challenge On the 6th March Regents Park went to Rock Challenge, Year 11 continued to support and plan for Rock Challenge, although we know how hard it has been for Rock Challenge this year and they won! I am immensely proud of Year 11 crew who continued to do well in their lessons and exams alongside working on their production. A real delight to see. Good luck for the finals! Even though Regents Park was struck down with ‘the bug’ in February, we still had 29 students who completed 100% attendance, they are:

Madi Bennett Beth Davies Luke Day Connor Earney

Michael Gammon Marcos Gesteira William Greenacre Gary Hearn Ellie Heath Noah Hunt Azhar Imran Deveena Khela Oliwia Konieczna Callum Linklater

Zara Manning Cathy Owens Evelyn Pybus Aryan Regmi
