Year 7 – 1,224 lengths (15.21 miles) Year 8 – 403 lengths (5 miles) Year 9 – 659 lengths (8.2 miles) Total – 2286 lengths (28.41 miles)

Our 2018/2019 PE Champions hosted their first whole school event of the year on Wednesday 12th December. All students in Year 7, 8 and 9 competed brilliantly to try and come out on top in water polo, football and dodgeball tournaments. The PE Champions were proactive in ensuring everyone was involved and there was a fantastic atmosphere in both tournament areas. This was a showcase of our incredibly committed and resilient students. We had a target to complete 1000 lengths in the day (20,000m/12.25 miles), each year group getting 35 minutes to do as many as possible – we may have misjudged our target! We absolutely smashed it. Each year group completed:

A huge well done and thank you to all that took part and the PE Champions who counted all those lengths – well over the distance across the channel to France! We will let you know how much money the students have raised in the summer newsletter. Our PE Champions have also done an amazing job leading primary school table tennis and football tournaments to over 350 primary school children – well done and keep up the fantastic work!

As a department we have again been focussing on maintaining our extra-curricular club attendance and participation across the school (over 250 last term). Through campaigning and encouraging all year groups to attend these clubs with the help of our PE champions, we have seen many students making the most of the opportunities available to them. Some of the feedback gained has been incredibly positive: “So much fun at girls rugby club and the tournament days. I love it.“ - Year 7 student We are still running our extra-curricular programme, the PE Passport, where students collect a stamp for every club that they attend throughout each term. Students who take part are then entered into a prize draw in order to celebrate their engagement and enthusiasm within the programme. This term has continued to be a successful one for our football teams, the Year 8 team are still top of
