DEPARTMENTAL NEWS Creative Arts Art This term we teamed up with the Science department for a spectacular cross-curricular event, studying biology, the anatomy and physics through observational drawing and painting as well as understanding how the two areas go hand in hand within day to day life. We looked at Leonardo Da Vinci as an example and emulation of how vital a creative-thinking brain is in the wider world, showing how to solve problems, work independently and improve intuitive thinking. Design Technology Students have been working on a range of projects as part of the 2nd and 3rd rotations this term. We are seeing some really good quality products being made and skills honed. Both Year 7 & 8 have tested their skills in their exams this term, from Year 8 the following students were top under the following headings:
On Fridays Mr Winson is running an after school club from 2.50pm – 4pm . This term, students have created keyrings from acrylic using the laser cutter and pewter using the metal casting facilities. Their current project has been to design robots made using recycled pieces of wood.
