DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

They have then moved on to artificial intelligence (AI), developing their knowledge of how AI is created and the rules and limitations that it can have. They have explored the ethical issues connected with this technology. For example, AI is expected to contribute up to $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030, making it one of the most significant technological drivers of economic growth. Enterprise & Marketing Year 11 are working on their second controlled assessment, which involves them pitching a business proposal for their class design t-shirts coursework, which they completed last year. We have been revising a wide range of topics for their mock exams. Well done to Koyna and Yuvraj for achieving D2* and Isla for achieving D2. Year 10 classes are working on their first controlled assessment, which is to develop a business proposal for a new burger aimed at a target audience of their choice. This term we have been focusing on market research, customer profile and design techniques. Special mention to Kamalpreet, Zahara and Charlotte for always striving to achieve mark band 3. After school, intervention is available on Monday for either year group for students to improve or complete any work not completed during lesson time. Digital Leaders Our digital leaders have supported the school in the open evening back in September. They also completed their first assembly to all year groups on “AI” as this has been the hot topic in the media.

Business GCSE Year 11 have been recalling, revising and practising their knowledge of paper 1 in business, as part of their preparation for the mock exams. Well done to Emilia, who has progressed significantly and has a potential to achieve a grade higher than her predicted. All students have logins for Smart Revise, which is an informative platform for revision and testing their knowledge across all topics. They can work on it independently or through tasks set by the class teacher. After school revision is available on Thursday. Mini booklets to Year 11s with knowledge organisers and structure guidelines for answering 3, 6, 9 and 12 mark questions, have been provided to all students. Year 11s are on track with the scheme of work and steadily learning topics in theme 2. They will soon be covering business operations, which will lead them steadily into business calculations. They were shown the remaining topics they will be covering so that they can read about them before their lessons. I would like to mention Tia, Emilia & Kuda who have been making outstanding contribution and progress in class, showing excellent attitudes to their learning. Oscar, Kinti and Kismat also need a mention, as they were able to achieve a grade 9 in their recent mock exams. Year 10 have been

investigating enterprise and entrepreneurship and spotting a business opportunity. Including the dynamic nature of business, the role of business enterprise and market research & segmentation. Year 10s will be learning how to

answer 9-mark questions this term, but they will also do an end of term assessment to track their progress. Special mention goes to Yonis, Ruby, Chloe, Dominik, Ayushman, Zuzia, Hastjyot & Baboucarr, who have been impressing me with their engagement and their excellent effort.
