DEPARTMENTAL NEWS

Year 8 Textiles The Year 8s are learning to develop their

fundamental key skills in textiles, such as appliqué and using the sewing machine. They are applying these new skills by creating their own wall hanging with pockets inspired by the cross-curricular theme of ‘The Seasons’.

Year 9 Textiles The Year 9s are continuing to develop, advance and progress in using the fundamental skills of textiles to create a tote bag. Inspired by the graffiti artist Mr Brainwash, students are learning the difference between graffiti, vandalism and street art.

Year 9 Product Design Year 9 also had a reminder about health and safety with the tools and machinery. They have researched clocks and then created a clock to a theme of their choice. They have designed their theme and used different methods to add a 3D effect to their clock. They finally put in clock hands and evaluated their work.

Year 8 Product Design After a reminder of some health and safety on the tools and machinery, Year 8 have been researching pinball machines and have cut out and created their own. They have added a theme to the background and added scoring areas and a trigger. They then evaluated their work.
