The Regents Review Autumn 2023

DEPARTMENTAL NEWS Creative Arts & DT

Year 7 Art Year 7s have completed their baseline test, where they drew a shell to their best ability. Year 7s then began to look at how to draw from observation and add in mark making and a range of tone into their drawings to create texture and detail. They are now looking at the artist, Lynette Shelley and doing a recreation of her work, learning how to use water colours effectively in a piece.

Year 8 Art Year 8 art students have been learning about colour theory, creating their own colour wheel. We have looked at different colour schemes, such as hot, cold and harmonious colours. Students have learned about Jasper Johns and created an information page based on him, which includes information/facts about Jasper Johns, a replica of his work and their own thoughts about his work. Students have embraced this with pride and creativity. We have especially been focusing on good presentation, learning how to display their work creatively.

Year 9 Art In art, Year 9 students are learning about culture, specifically Mexican culture. Looking at the artwork of Frida Kahlo and Jose Posada, students are creating some amazing artist study pages in their sketchbook.
