Borrowing and Hiring School Equipment

Borrowing school Equipment  If you wish to borrow items of school equipment they must be for school purposes only, i.e. learning computing/or how to use equipment etc. The item would then be covered by the school’s insurance. You must initially make arrangements with the member of staff normally responsible for the equipment. Then see the Headteacher or Business Manager to obtain permission.  Finally enter the details on a " Loan Equipment" Form , obtainable from the Business Manager/Network Manager which must be authorised by the Headteacher or Business Manager before items are taken offsite.  Equipment may be borrowed overnight, at weekends or in the holidays but must not be kept out of school when the school is in session. Hiring School Equipment  The Governing Body have agreed that staff may hire school equipment for personal use when it is not required at school. In order to satisfy Inland Revenue requirements, a reasonable charge will be levied depending on the value of the equipment and the hire period. See the Hiring of Equipment Policy.  The hire charges are based on the daily cost to the school of the piece of equipment worked out on the basis of its initial cost, expected life and related administrative costs of hire.  If you wish to hire items of school equipment you must initially make arrangements with the member of staff normally responsible for the equipment. Then see the Headteacher or Business Manager to obtain permission and finally enter details on a “ Hire Equipment ” form, obtainable from the Business Manager which must be authorised by the Headteacher or Business Manager.
